A growing number of Canadians are turning to home care to ensure they can age with dignity in their own homes.

Home care allows people to keep their independence and remain part of the community, instead of being removed because of old age, disability or minor injury.

Already, 4 out of 5 seniors who live at home suffer from a chronic health condition but say they are happier at home.

People prefer home care, and it also costs the health system less. That is why surveys show 80% of all Canadians support a bigger role for home care.

Add your voice and tell your MPP or candidate that you and your fellow citizens need a better home care strategy in Ontario.

With the number of seniors set to double as baby boomers age, demand for healthcare is expected to grow. Home care is an important part of the solution.

Yet provincial governments in Canada have no real home care strategy. There are no set standards for training of home support workers and no action to ensure all Canadians have equal access to quality care.

In the absence of a home care strategy, health costs are going to rise faster than they need to while Canadians are denied access to proper care.

Without provincial standards on training, Canadians are also being put at risk as fly-by-night companies take government handouts while exploiting unqualified staff who are being sent into the living rooms of the most vulnerable without proper training.

Take action now and tell your MPP or candidate this Oct 6th that you want a provincial home care strategy!
